OBSTACLE COURSE RACING
DESCRIPTION OF THE OBSTACLE COURSE
Distance: 5km
Elevation gain: 370m
The Mont Rigaud Obstacle Course is a 5k obstacle course run of the "Spartan Race" type. It is composed of 3 ascents and 3 descents, for a total elevation gain of 370 meters. Runners will have to conquer 18 obstacles on the course. Obstacles are explained on descriptive panels at each obstacle.
The course can accommodate three runners at the same time. For bigger groups, staggered starts can be done every 3 or 5 minutes.
Parents with younger children can run the course in teams with their children, helping them pass the obstacles when needed.
Runners can time their run themselves if they wish to do so. This course is listed as a Segment in the Strava application.
The obstacle course is accessible every day, from May to November (according to the opening hours). An Obstacle Course ticket or membership is required.
OBSTACLES ON THE COURSE
1 - OVER AND UNDER
Runners must pass over and under the four snow park rails.
The sequence is: over - under - over - under
2 - THE CRAWL
Runners must crawl under the rope net, towards the top of the mountain over a distance of 18 meters.
3 - THE WALL RIDE
Runners must climb the wall without using the rope. If they fail at their first three attempts, they can use the rope for help.
4 - FARMER'S CARRY
Runners must carry two water jugs, one in each hand. They must make a round trip between both flags, for a total distance of 100 meters.
Runners can choose between 10 litres (~22lbs) and 20 litres jugs (~44lbs).
5 - BLOC DRAG
Runners must drag the concrete bloc. They must make a round trip between both flags, for a total distance of 130 meters.
The bloc must stay on the ground, runners can only use the rope to move the bloc.
6 - THE HURDLE
Runners must jump over the middle of the 5 foot hurdle. They can use their hands and arms for support. Younger runners can jump over the shorter sides of the hurdle.
7 - THE NINJA RIG
Runners must cross the entire rig without touching the ground, using all of the ninja grips.
If a runner falls before the end, he must restart from the beginning.
8 - TIRE FLIPS
Runners must flip one tractor tire between two flags. The tire must make a round trip, which is about 4-5 flips uphill and 4-5 flips downhill.
Tires can't be rolled, they must be flipped.
9 - BUCKET CARRY
Runners must carry one bucket between two flags. They must make a round trip, for a total distance of 100 meters.
Runners can carry the bucket any way they prefer (in their hands, on their shoulder).
10 - TRAVERSE WALL
Runners must cross the entire wall using only the 2x4 grips installed on the wall. They must execute one traverse, from right to left, without touching the ground or the top of the wall.
11 - ROPE NET TRAVERSE
Runners must climb the 8 foot rope net, then climb back down on the other side.
Runners must have their hands and their feet on the rope at all times. They can traverse the rope by lying on top of the rope or by suspending themselves below the rope.
12 - TYROLEAN TRAVERSE
Runners must traverse the 50 foot suspended rope, from top to bottom.

13 - BALANCE ROCKS
Runners must jump from one rock to the next without touching the ground. They must touch all 10 rocks to succeed.
14 - ATLAS STONES
Runners must carry the Atlas stone between two flags. They can choose between the 65 pounds stone and the 95 pounds stone. They must make a round trip, for a total distance of 30 meters.
Each portion of the round trip (going up and going down) must be executed without dropping the stone on the ground. Runners can take a break between the uphill and downhill portions.
15 - ROPE CLIMB
Runners must climb to the top of the arch using the suspended ropes. They must touch the top of the rope/structure before descending.
16 - BALANCE BEAMS
Runners must walk across all three telephone poles, without touching the ground. If they touch the ground, they must restart from the beginning.
17 - OLYMPUS WALL
Runners must cross the Olympus Wall, from right to left, using the grips provided, and without touching the ground. If they touch the ground, they must start from the beginning.
18 - LOG CARRY
Runners must carry one log between two flags. They must make a round trip, for a total distance of 150 meters.
Logs can't be rolled on the ground.
